Invented Lives

"I loved this book. As a grandmother with many 'happy-to-read' grandchildren, I wanted to read the Truth About Amber' first and now will purchase several hard back copies to give my 9-12 year olds. I loved all of the characters who are beautifully developed by the author, Kaye Nutman.
With the breakup of her parents' marriage, Amber is now living in a not so cool place and has to adjust to a different life-style with her grandparents and a cash-strapped mother. School holidays are boring without her old friends and her Gran's suggestion to write a letter to the granddaughter of her dearest friend seems a poor substitute for computer games. However, Amber's imagination takes off and is reciprocated by her new pen-friend, Millie. Each tries to outdo the other with their exciting lives.
With old-fashioned values and likable characters of all ages, I'd recommend 'The Truth about Amber' as an extremely enjoyable book and well worth the read."
